This week is going to be a short one, and since I won't have time to remind you of anything, be sure and read this calendar with an eye for detail. Email me if you have any questions!
Monday, November 2:
In Class: Forum Group 1 Presentation; take notes in class. Remember that "All class members will write a short response including 2-3 questions/comments about your research process, one thing you learned about the topic, and one thing you learned about giving a good presentation." So make sure you are taking notes while your peers present.
HW: Blog Post #8, due by Friday before class
HW: Sign up for an "unessay" conference time (do this as soon as you can because these are the only conference times available).
Wednesday, November 4:
In Class: Forum Group 1 Discussion Day; write response; turn in notebooks
HW: Blog Post #8, due by Friday before class
Friday, November 6:
In Class: No Class.
HW: Blog #9, due next Friday, November 13
Blog #9: After the first blog round of blog entries, we looked at yours and some of your peers' blogs and talked about what was working well and what wasn't. We said that big blocks of text were daunting and made us less likely to finish the post. We also said that pictures drew us in, as did writer's with a strong voice. For this blog post, I'd like you to look back on the work that you and your peers have done since then and reflect on the composition of those posts. Here are some questions to get you thinking: What is working well in your posts? Focusing on your response to the prompts, not the prompts themselves, which posts are you most proud of? Which of your posts do you feel like you could have done better on? What has changed about the way you write? What has stayed the same? And a few questions about your peers' work: Are there any of your peers whose work you are consistently impressed by? What are they doing? How can you learn from them? What types of rhetorical moves are you peers making? Are you making similar or different ones?
This is a good chance to practice writing with paragraph purpose.
This is a for-credit blog post, which means you only need to to complete it to the best of your ability and you will earn full points on it.
