From time to time I will post an announcement regarding something worthwhile that I believe might enhance your understanding of the issues we will talk about in class. This is one such announcement.
We will be focusing on issues of power and education this semester and later on, when you are working on your second "unessay," you might wish to take a historical look at education and those groups who have been denied equal education rights. Although Selma is about voting rights, I think it will encourage you to think critically about the issues of race and power still relevant today. Attending this will contribute rich material for your writing, and you'll have some great research under your belt before we even start officially researching!
