It will be seven years ago on January 28 that I witnessed one of the worst events of my brothers life. While snowboarding up at Schweitzer Mountain Resort, my brother was badly injured. In one jump he broke his, hip, femur, back, neck, and sustained a concussion all at once. I was only 12 years of age at the time, and immediately panicked. Not sure what was wrong with my brother as he lay there in shock, he kept repeating phrases over and over that made no sense to me. I had no idea what to do, but call my parents. When my mother answered the phone I was on the verge of tears. I told her something was very wrong with my brother and to meet us at the medical center on the mountain. Once there, he was loaded in an ambulance, and I will never forget the screams of my brother as they closed the door and I was so unsure of what would happen to him.I broke down into tears as they drove away. My brother was flown to Harbor View Medical Center in Seattle. He spent two weeks in the hospital before he was allowed to return home. He then spent six weeks in a wheel chair and four more on crutches. Now my brother is fully healed and scored in the top one percent of baseball sparq testing.

AboutThis is a place for you to talk to each other. By "you" I mean whoever might be reading this. Most often "you" will be a student, and you will be completing a blog post as a part of an assignment. In that case, it's important I can tell you who you are. But if your friends, parents, or pets would like to chime in, they are more than welcome, in which case, they may remain anonymous. Archives
